Slim's Saloon wins Memorial tourney Slim's Saloon of Tiffin won the eight-team, Kalona men's Memorial weekend tournament held Saturday at Ihc Jaycee fields. Slim's defeated Hilltop of Iowa City 27-19 in the championship game. Lowell Miller of Slim's was five-for-five in the final game and also helped his team into the finals. Miller was four for five against Barthclman's of Kalona in the semifinals. Slim's defeated Barlhehnan's 23-19 to advance to the finals. Jim Molini of Slim's hit six home runs on the day and batted .810 for the tournament. Action continued in the weekly league with games on Wednesday, Friday and Monday. Pool fund-raiser tournament this Sunday at Lagos A fund-raising tournament for the new pool being built at Lagos Acres Golf in Keota will be held Sunday at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m..The ~tournament will be a three-person best shot. A full story on the tournament and the pool itself will be in next week's News sports section. The tournament kicks off the 1994 summer tournament season at Lagos. Next Tuesday, a seniors tournament will be held there for the men while Sunday, June 12, a tour- couple best shot will be held.
