ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

In the coming weeks, the new Kalona Makers Market will be holding a couple of events featuring locally crafted products.

The Kalona Makers Market is located in Schlabaugh & Sons Woodworking, 720 14th St. in Kalona.

The market has permanent vendors such as Schlabaugh & Sons Woodworking, Canaan Home & Farm, Kara Lynn Designs and Ten Thousand Villages that are located inside the showroom and open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A variety of other local makers participate in gatherings held throughout the year.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, the market will host 10 local makers, including Glyn Mawr Winery; Simone Delaty, known for her artisan wood-fired breads; artist Elinor Krieger, who will reveal a new collection of paintings; Kate Merck from The Barn, bringing wreath and greenery floral designs; and Bob and Connie Anderson, selling their Kalona-made pottery.

On Dec. 15, the Makers Market will host a special Women’s Holiday Workshop. Jane Schlabaugh said that this is a time when women can gather to build wood benches, tables or other small gift items.

Those that have signed up can come any time during the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to complete their project.
