ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Kalona native Weldon Nisly recently returned from Iraqi-Kurdistan where he served with Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) from mid-April to mid-June. Nisly has been doing work with CPT since 2003.

Just Peace Outreach Group invites the public to hear Nisly describe his experiences in Iraq as he addresses the topic, “Building Peace in the Ancient-Contemporary Land of Iraqi-Kurdistan” on Saturday, July 7, at Wellman Mennonite Church.

The program starts at 6 p.m. with a finger foods potluck. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken for the CPT Iraqi-Kurdistan team.

CPT is in Iraqi-Kurdistan to investigate Turkey’s bombing of the area and hear the stories of how the war is affecting local communities. CPT spends times with families and then shares their stories with the world.
