June 4

Caller in the 1700 block of 140th Street, Wellman, reports a theft from an unoccupied farmstead. A transfer pump and engine are missing off a fertilizer tank which was in the shed. Possibly happened in the last three days to a week. Report to be filed.

Caller in the 3200 block of 150th Street, Riverside, reports they have a subject in the emergency room that was bitten by a cat that he feeds on the farm. Washington County Environmental responded and took care of getting the cat tested.

Report of a fire behind a building between First Avenue and Third Street, Wellman. It appears there is rubber tires and junk in a burn barrel. No one is around. Wellman Fire responded and extinguished the fire.

Caller in the 1500 block of Sixth Avenue North in Wellman, reports she was bitten by a dog today while at a residence in Wellman for work. Dog’s shots are up to date. Report to be filed.

Caller in the 300 block of East River Street, Riverside, reports his wallet was stolen. Caller called back to advise that he found his wallet and nothing is missing.

June 5

Caller reports trespassing at the old bridge on June 3. Citation issued to juvenile male of Kalona.

Caller in the 100 block of South Sixth Street, Kalona, reports a cat and dog inside a trailer with no electricity. Responded and spoke with the caller and the subject with the dog. They had no electricity but the dog had food and water and was fine.

Caller in the 100 block of North Street, Kalona, reports receiving harassing text messages over a civil situation. Requesting a deputy speak tot eh subject and advise him to have no more contact with them. They were advised this was a civil matter. Documentation.

Caller in the 800 block of Eighth Street, Kalona, reports a male subject is riding around on a lawn mower shooting rabbits with a BB gun. He has trespassed on the caller’s property. Responded. The subject was on his own property upon arrival and was spoken to about the complaint.

June 6

Report of a disabled vehicle on the side of the road on Highway 22, Kalona.

Deputy reports being out with two ambulances a the Riverside exit. Earl’s was contacted to tow the disabled ambulance. The patient was transferred to the other ambulance.

Caller reports a one-vehicle accident by the old Appliance Barn. The vehicle is in the lot now, but they hit the sign and the utility pole. Alliant was notified. Operator: Nearoth Peterschmidt of Wellman. Citation issued for following too closely. Utility pole collapsed into the roadway and was struck by a semi.

June 7

Caller in the 1300 block of Deer Run Drive, Riverside, reports a van with no plates went into the ditch on Deer Run Drive. Male occupant is not getting out. Arrested John Benton Holcomb, 55, of Nichols for OWI second offense failure to maintain control and driving while license suspended, denied, cancelled or revoked.

911 hang up call from Eighth Avenue and Seventh Street, Wellman. Sounded like they were fighting. Checked the area. Unable to locate subjects.

June 8, 18 Officer reports being out with two female subjects in the 600 block of A Avenue, Kalona. Written warning for curfew given.

Caller in the 700 block of F Avenue, Kalona, reports suspicious activity. Spoke with the subjects, everything is fine.
