NEWTON, KS - Former Iowa Mennonite student Kobi Russom was in goal for Bethel’s shutout of York College on Saturday. The Threshers picked up a 1-0 win despite being outshot 15-2 in the game. Russom made 13 saves and is now ninth among NAIA division I goalkeepers in saves per game with 6.9.
Russom has made 97 saves this season, but the Threshers have struggled to get shots off. Bethel has been outshot 301-95 this season. Russom has allowed 30 goals in 14 games in net, while Bethel has only put 52 shots on goal so far this season.
Russom has shutout the opposition in each of Bethel’s three wins this season. He also had a clean sheet in wins over Texas College and Southwestern.
