ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Lone Tree

The Casey’s General Store in Lone Tree has been in the planning stage for most of this year. But as of mid-September, it is officially in the building stage. There is now a concrete slab hidden behind mountains of dirt and gravel and surrounded by backhoes. Things are proceeding right on schedule.

The City did approve a new sewer main for the convenience store at 303 N. Devoe. Currently, the nearest sewer main is on Huskins two blocks to the west. Casey’s would have had to run their own line all the way to Huskins to hook into the city’s system. Constructing a new main makes that easier and cheaper.

A new main running behind Casey’s and Rich Burr’s car wash would, in theory, encourage further development between the American Legion and Farmers and Merchants Bank.

The cost of the main is being split three ways. The City of Lone Tree will pay $30,000 as will local businessman Rich Burr with Casey’s paying the rest of the estimated $100,000 the project will cost.
