ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Highland avenged a loss earlier this season to Mid-Prairie with a 2-1 victory over the Golden Hawks at New London.

Led by four kills from Aly Stokes and four aces from Sarah Schneider the Huskies took the 2-1 (10-21, 21-13, 15-13) win over Mid-Prairie.

After being decimated in the first set, the Huskies rallied and battled back to take the final two sets for the win.

In total, Highland had 11 aces on the day with four from Schneider, three from Stokes and three from Kylie Wood.

Mid-Prairie had more kills on the day than Highland and 11 aces as a team, but unforced errors hurt the Golden Hawks.

Tori Boyse and Makensie Rich led the team with four kills each. Cassidy Hershberger had five aces during the match.

Both teams played three matches at New London as part of the tournament. Highland went 1-2 in pool play and Mid-Prairie went 0-3, so both teams did not advance to the semifinals in the afternoon.

Both of the losses for both teams came from West Burlington and Van Buren in 2-0 sweeps.

Van Buren won the tournament by defeating Winfield-Mount Union and New London.
