October 4, 2018 Six Lions set season bests at Winfield-Mount Union

It was a banner day for the Lone Tree boys cross country team as all six runners set personal bests for the season and the Lions finished fourth in a nine-team field at Winfield-Mount Union’s meet.

Alberto Cortes took a big step forward, improving his best by 22 seconds and finishing in 19:07. His 18th place finish led the way for Lone Tree.

Cale Christofferson was the next Lone Tree runner in finishing in 19:59, his first sub-20 run of the season. The next three Lone Tree runners finished within 12 seconds of each other and finished 31st, 32nd and 33rd.

Nick Saltzman finished in 20:26, Kyle Zaruba 20:37 and Adam Knock 20:39. Knock improved his best by 86 seconds, a big leap forward for the Lone Tree freshman.

Caleb Viers ran a 21:45, eclipsing his best by six seconds.

On the girls side, Macie Bopp and Natalie Patterson continued to earn medals as Bopp finished in 7th place and Natalie Patterson 12th. Maddie Jacque finished in 30th with a time of 26:10.
