ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity partnered with the East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation to oversee critical repairs to a home in Wellman.

As part of the repair, shingles and roof decking were removed and replaced, and new gutters were installed to divert run-off.

The second phase of the repair included replacing the porch, which separated from the main structure of the home.

The project fell under the auspices of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Helping Hands Program.

Homeowner Tami Davidson is a longtime resident of Wellman and many know her as the friendly owner of Outback Wrap.

She came to Habitat for Humanity as a cost-burdened homeowner who was spending nearly 60 percent of her monthly income on housing expenses.

“This is something that has needed to be done for a long time, but I just didn’t have the funds,” Davidson said.
