Donald Crawford has been appointed assessor for Lone Tree.
The Dougherty Electric Shop has changed hands and will be operated by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown of Cedar Rapids.
The Doughertys will operate the Mrs. Elmer L. Stock farm a mile west of Lone Tree.
The Lone Tree girls will play in the finals Saturday night where they will meet the winner of the Oxford-Solon game. Wednesday night the girls defeated Tiffin by a score of 26-24.
Members of the girls team: Marlene Johnson, Jackie Dusterhoft, Ramona Lenz, Joanna Musser, Joyce Wyllie, Carmen Crawford, Margaret Ann Burr, Alpha Tagge, Joanne Schussler, Eva Eden, Sue Abrams, Marilyn Westfall, Helen Schlapkohl, Janette Kral, Ruth Mills, chaperone, Pat Hirt, Marilyn Stonebarger and Jeanette Ziegler.
The Lone Tree boys basketball squad defeated Shueyville by a 58-34 margin. The second string boys played most of the game for the local squad.
Committees have been announced for St. Mary’s pancake and sausage supper, Feb. 8. General committee: Mrs. James Hradek, Mrs. Bernard Ilde, Mrs. James McMahon, Mrs. Raymond Slaughter Jr. and Mrs. Albert Bekker.
Don Eden had the misfortune to break an ankle while practicing basketball in the University of Iowa fieldhouse last Thursday. He has the leg in a cast and is staying with his aunt, Mrs. Charles Burgess in Iowa City.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schlapkohl and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Jennie Ruth and Dale.
Mr. and Ms. Roy Huff and Wilbur entertained Mr. and Mrs. George Crawford and Amon at dinner Sunday.
