ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

(BPT) - From kitten heels to cat-eye sunglasses and leopard print, feline fashion has appeared on the catwalk for decades. Cats have likely played the role of fashion muse in part due to their refined elegance and sophisticated style. However, while cats have always been highly regarded in the fashion world, their owners don’t always get the same respect. According to a recent survey Google Consumer Survey asking people to describe cat owners, nearly half (43 percent) replied “weird or quirky” followed by “reserved” (22 percent) and “nerdy” (15 percent). As somewhat expected, the study also revealed the most common phrase associated with “cat lady” is “crazy.”

Cat owners receive a bad rap, yet despite the negative stereotypes, they report feeling “proud” of their cat status (64 percent) with nearly nine out of 10 sharing their love of cats by talking with family and friends, posting photos and comments about kitty, sharing and watching videos, and advocating and volunteering, among other things.

With millions of cats entering shelters each year, yet less than half ever getting adopted, Fresh Step is on a mission to eliminate cat bias and help every shelter cat find a forever home. Fresh Step knows that cat ownership is always on trend and wants to celebrate shelter cats in need through its Hot to Adopt campaign, which debuted during Fashion Week in New York this September.

This fall, embrace and wear your cat pride proudly. Each cat is unique, just like each cat owner, whether bohemian, creative, chic, edgy, active or classic. Check out these feline-inspired looks:

Bohemian:

Her style reflects her personality – free-spirited and unconventional. With braids and flowing layers, you’d expect her cat to be her sidekick at the latest local music festival.

Creative:

As a designer, structure is the most important element to her personal aesthetic. Her cat is more than an accessory and balances her look as artistic inspiration.

Chic

With an eye for sleek style, clean lines and streamlined pieces, she channels the poise of her cat with each of her fashionable ensembles.

Edgy:

Her penchant for leather and an overall urban street style gives her style an edge, much like her cat’s discerning demeanor.

Active:

A fan of cat’s pose, she is always on-the-go and dresses for comfort in relaxed, never sloppy, monochromatic separates. She’s warm and fuzzy, just like her adorable kitten.

Classic:

Not concerned with trends, her timeless style captures her loyal nature – the same attribute that first drew her to her kitty companion.

Cat lovers can join Fresh Step’s mission to eliminate cat bias and help every shelter cat find a forever home in two ways.

Watch Fresh Step’s video and wear your cat pride proudly to show it’s #hot2adopt. A portion ($7.50) of the purchase price of Fresh Step’s Hot To Adopt specially designed T-shirt will benefit shelter cats across the country. Learn more at FreshStep.com.
