ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Washington

The Washington County supervisors will hold a work session Thursday August 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the supervisors office in the courthouse to discuss surfacing either a half mile stretch of 135th Street, or taking it all the way to Riverside Road. The street is the main access to the established Timber Ridge subdivision west of Highway 218 in rural Riverside. In a work session meeting Tuesday, July 25 and also July 18, the board discussed sharing costs with developer Todd Hahn who is planning to develop the further 40-aces of the subdivision, 24 residential lots in the upscale subdivision. The two weeks until the meeting will allow the board to obtain more information on costs and how far the road should be extended.

The two issues are a choice between asphalt or concrete for the road surface, and the possible extension west on 135th Street beyond the subdivision. All, including developer Todd Hahn, have stressed the difference in costs for materials and extension.

Discussion also has mentioned possible use of TIF to aid funding.
