Potential RAGBRAI vendors now know how much it will cost to set up a booth in Kalona.
On Monday night, the City Council approved a fee structure for RAGBRAI vendors.
City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh proposed a two-tiered vendor fee schedule: $300 for for-profit vendors and $200 for nonprofit vendors.
Schlabaugh said the fees were in line with what other communities have charged in the past.
The vendor slots are expected to be 15-feet by 15-feet and set up along Fourth and Fifth streets.
A vendor application form will be available at City Hall.
Schlabaugh said that there has already been a lot of interest from potential vendors.
“We’re looking to get around 30, depending on the types of vendors,” he said.
He added that anyone wishing to sell anything for RAGBRAI must pay the vendor fee.
“Any business that does something they don’t normally do, there is a fee,” Schlabaugh explained.
The Kalona RAGBRAI Committee will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 19 at the public library.
“The Thursday meeting will discuss the route,” Schlabaugh said. “Our goal is to lock downtown down for bikes and pedestrians.”
