The Golden Hawks lost their River Valley Conference season opener 3-0 to Durant.

The Wildcats quickly dispatched of Mid-Prairie 25-11, 25-14, 25-9, to hand the Golden Hawks their first loss of the season.

The Golden Hawks had a tough time setting up their offense, with a kill efficiency of -0.173 on the day as the Golden Hawks compiled just eight kills and 21 kill errors on 75 attempts.

Myah Lugar led the way with three kills and Tayler Murphy and Makensie Rich each had two.

For the Wildcats the offense came easy as Durant had 33 kills on 45 attempts, for a nearly 70 percent efficiency on their attacks. Durant’s Mallory Warner led the way with nine kills.

The Golden Hawks’ serve-receive also ran into some issues as Durant had nine aces including six from Kamryn Meyer.

The Golden Hawks are now 4-1 on the season and host Iowa City Regina on Thursday and travel to take on Tipton next Tuesday.
