A June 25 fire at the Kalona Bakery is still having major repercussions. Renovations at the Kalona Bakery, owned by Jonathan and Stephanie Troyer, have still not begun because of an insurance settlement delay. Smoke and water damage to the Kalona Amish Country Noodles site, owned by Marilyn and Derald Bender, held up production of the noodles for several weeks. Kalona Chocolates is now back in operation, but has yet to open its street-front location for walk-ins.

The Kalona Bakery main building is owned by the Troyers, but they rent additional baking and dining space to the north in a building owned by Peter Boylan. Also in the Boylan building is the noodle production area and Kalona Chocolates.
