Nature was not kind to Lone Tree the day of its spring city-wide yard sale. Mid-week the weather was warm and sunny, but by the weekend it was windy, cold, dark and grim.
But the weather notwithstanding, brave souls kept to their original plans. Of the 16 scheduled yard sales, the half that could set up inside a garage opened for business. These included the multi-family sale held every year at 303 S. Devoe and the arts and crafts vendors at the school. The Scholastic Book Fair was still on in the library. A new addition was the sale held in the old Young Insurance office on Jayne Street which has been vacant for about a year now.
People, such as Betty Simmons, who ran her sale out of her garage in back of her house, reported okay sales in spite of the miserable conditions.
