ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Editor:

Johnson County has made some tremendous strides in the past four years, from expanding solar to supporting workers’ rights to raising the minimum wage and Community ID.

Mike Carberry has been at the forefront of all of it. On those last two, in fact, his was the deciding vote.

Mike is a fighter for justice: environmental justice, racial justice, economic justice and social justice. He has been a professional environmental advocate for nearly 20 years, stopping the expansion of coal and nuclear power in Iowa and fighting the decimation of our waterways.

He is on the board of the local chapter of the NAACP. He is a leader in the #FightFor15 campaign. He has voted to invest almost $2 million in new affordable housing in Johnson County and supports the county as a welcoming community.

It has been my honor to serve alongside Mike these last 17 months. While he and I have been friends since our work together on the Howard Dean campaign 15 years ago, it is in our current capacity as fellow members of the Board of Supervisors that I have seen him working up close.

He is tireless, relentless and listening to people all over the county all the time. He seems to be at every event, as if he can be everywhere at once. Mike is passionate about the Johnson County community.

We need Mike Carberry on the Board of Supervisors for four more years. Please vote for Mike on or before June 5.
