ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Work on installing storm sewers along Highway 22 on the east side of Riverside will be delayed until spring.

The Riverside City Council begrudgingly agreed to the delay, which could extend the project until August.

“I am willing to see it extended into August, but I want to rework the timeline,” Mayor Allen Schneider said, noting that he has heard complaints from residents about how long the construction work has taken. “It’s agreeable, but I don’t like it.”

“I would rather have things buttoned up for the winter,” said city engineer Scott Pottorff, of MMS Consultants, adding that construction crews can make more progress faster in the spring when the weather is warmer.

Schneider said he wants streets returned to normal when work ends.

“We need as much as possible to have things put back to normal,” he said.
