Nina Jean Curtis

1937 – 2017

Nina Jean Curtis, 79, of Potter Valley, Calif., died January 19, 2017 at her home where she resided with Gary Pierachini, her partner of 22 years. Services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017.

Nine Jean Curtis was born October 19, 1937, the daughter of Lloyd and Esther Curtis. She graduated from Mercy Nursing School in Iowa and worked in nursing for 45 years before retiring and becoming the owner of Black Horse Tack in Redwood Valley, Calif. Nina was an avid horse woman, endurance rider and photographer who actually rode her horse to school every day as a child in Lone Tree. She was an original member of Back Country Horsemen, Mendocino County Search and Rescue and Mounted Possee.

She is survived by her partner: Gary Pierachini; daughter: Jean Glentzer and her husband James Welch; one granddaughter: Traci Glentzer and her partner Chris Bivin; two step-children: Kayla Welch and Nick Butterfield; brother: Dan Curtis of Hills, Iowa.

She was preceded by her parents.
