ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Over the course of a 30-game season, there will be games where nothing seems to be working. Friday night was one of those games for Iowa Mennonite in an 11-0 five-inning loss to Central Lee.

Iowa Mennonite had to use three pitchers to get three first-inning outs as Central Lee smashed the ball to the fence for a multitude of hits. Iowa Mennonite used Reggie Borntrager, Blake Bontrager and Noah Miller to get out of the inning. The 11 runs scored by Central Lee would be the only ones of the game.

Iowa Mennonite had three hits in total on the night with Cole Ours, Jacob Boller and Miller singling on the night. Once Miller came on, he had a nice night on the mound, allowing only one hit in three and one-third innings. With the 11-0 deficit though, the Iowa Mennonite bats couldn’t get back into the game and Iowa Mennonite was run-ruled.

The loss puts Iowa Mennonite at a 6-6 record and 2-4 in their last six. They played Louisa-Muscatine on Monday and traveled to Mediapolis for a doubleheader on Tuesday. They play Pekin at home on Thursday and have a makeup doubleheader at Lone Tree on Friday. They host Keokuk and Danville on Saturday.

Box Score

Iowa Mennonite: 000 00 — 0

Central Lee: 1100 00 — 11
