May 4, 2017 Lorack leads Lions at Knoll Ridge

Payton Lorack shot the best round of his career as the Lone Tree boys golf team finished with a season-low total of 217 strokes in a triangular at Knoll Ridge Country Club in North English on Thursday, April 27.

The Lions finished just 12 strokes behind second place Montezuma. Host English Valleys won the meet with 176 strokes, led by meet medalist Will Tapken with 42.

Lorack’s round included a par on hole one, four bogeys and three double bogeys. He finished tied for sixth among the 15 varsity golfers.

Molly Milder and Lizzie Edens led the Lady Lions to a third place finish of 257 strokes, just 13 behind Montezuma. Lexi Miller of English Valleys was the meet medalist with a score of 52, leading the Bears to a first-place finish of 219.

Lions hit the links in Winfield

Shayna Burr and Lizzie Edens led the Lone Tree girls golf team with scores in the 50s as the Lady Lions finished with a season-low stroke total in a 204-248 loss to Winfield-Mount Union at Twin Lakes Country Club on Wednesday, April 26.

It was the first time the Lone Tree girls were able to produce a team score since a 163-269 loss to Louisa-Muscatine at Cedarcrest Country Club.

Burr led Lone Tree with a round of 56, highlighted by a three-stroke finish on the par-three first hole. Edens had three holes at just one over par, finishing with 57 strokes.

Payton Lorack and Cory Krueger had the low scores for the Lions in a 174-248 loss to the WMU boys’ team.
