ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Editor:

In the past weeks, women from Anita demonstrated courage and compassion with their concern for the safety of children in the Mid Prairie School District. They cautioned the community not to be fooled by the deceptive tactics of a sex offender.

The community deserves another caution not to be misled by Jerry Partridge, a man professing to be a mediator and claiming a desire to bring healing to the victims, the East Union congregation and others through mediation.

A requirement for a mediator is being neutral and not showing favoritism. Jerry demonstrates he favors Trent Yoder by defending him in many settings.

He submitted a letter of recommendation for Trent to the superintendent and supported him in a school board meeting.

Jerry advocated for Trent to be allowed to serve in leadership positions with children at his church and at least one other school.

Mr. Partridge has been quoted in the press where he is always identified as a former Washington County attorney. He uses the credibility of that title to convince people that Trent “only” victimized one person and is no longer a threat to children.

In order to do that, Jerry has discounted the very real experiences of at least 20 young girls in Anita.

Ethical mediators don’t show favoritism. Everyone impacted by this deserves healing, but the women in Anita didn’t need Jerry’s help to heal and neither does this community.
