ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

It all seemed so innocent. Then in a flash, the innocence was lost.

Springville’s Zach March returned a kick off, like he had done so many times before in his football career. But this time, after taking a huge hit during fourth quarter action at seventh-ranked Lone Tree Friday, Sept. 8, the Oriole junior didn’t bounce back up off the turf.

In fact, he laid there for almost 45-minutes.

“There were some pretty tense moments there for a while,” said Springville football coach Joe Martin. “Nobody knew what exactly was going on, But Zach is going to be ok. He was talking and moving ok there on the field Friday night. We just had to wait that long for the ambulance to arrive from Iowa City. The medical personnel there in Lone Tree didn’t want to take any chances moving Zach, too. Better safe than sorry.”

It appears as if March suffered a concussion, and could possibly return in a few weeks.

“That’s up to the doctors, Zach and his family,” Martin said. “We’d love to have him back, but we want him back at 100-percent and when he’s ready. The best news of all though? Zach is ok.”
