1944 - 2017

Carolyn Sue (Babcock) Gardner, 73, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at the American Legion in Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Carolyn was born July 5, 1944, the daughter of Orville and Ines (Runnels) Babcock, in Kirksville, Mo. Carolyn was united in marriage to Edwin Gardner (1965) in Kirksville, Mo., moving to Iowa in 1967, where they started their family. Carolyn was known for her impeccable attention to detail and her strong ability to create unique, elegant spaces/rooms. She and husband Ed spent several years restoring the “Restopia” mansion in Columbus Junction, back to its original grandeur.

She also worked part-time as a Realtor for several years. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved spending time and visiting with her children, especially her grandchildren. Her devotion, generosity, patience and support to her family were engrained in her fiber.

Carolyn will be deeply missed by her friends and family; one son: Brett (Mary Grace) Gardner of Forest Hills, Tenn.; two daughters: Sherri (Paul) Eagle and Cindy (Bruce) Miller from Riverside, Iowa; one brother: Bob (Beth) Babcock of Orland Park, Ill.; six grandchildren: Jarred, Taylor and Cambrie Gardner, Zane Eagle, Owen and Brody Miller; two nieces: Mandy and Christy Babcock.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
