1975 - 2017

Nathan Shay Morrison, 42, passed away, Dec. 2, 2017, surrounded by family, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A celebration of life memorial to honor Nathan will be held at the Thirsty Camel, Conesville, Iowa, Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Nathan’s children’s education fund.

Nathan was born Aug. 1 1975, in Iowa City to Lauren Liebergen and Randy Morrison. He grew up in Ainsworth and graduated from Highland High School in 1993. He was active in sports during his youth and teen years and had a special love for wrestling, that lasted all of his life.

He attended Kirkwood Community College and received an associates degree in industrial maintenance in 1996. Nathan married Heather Jay, Sept. 21 1996, in Columbus Junction. They later divorced.

Nathan worked for various construction companies over the years and was often a self-employed contractor.

His proudest accomplishments in life were his two children, Tucker William, 18, and Gracie Shay, 16. He loved watching them grow up and enjoyed attending their many sporting events and school activities.

Nathan is survived by his children: Tucker of Columbus Junction/Ames and Gracie of Columbus Junction; parents: Lauren and John Spenner of Riverside and Randy Morrison of Crawfordsville; longtime friend and companion: Heather Morrison of Columbus Junction; brother: Nick (Sarah) Morrison of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandparents: Gerald and Marlene Liebergen of Fort Atkinson, Wisc.; and in-laws: Mark and Faye Jay of Columbus Junction; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: James and Iola Morrison and an uncle: Lance Liebergen.

The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Nathan’s arrangements and his family.
