1944 - 2018

Richard Allen Taylor, 74, lost his battle to small cell lung cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, in his home with loved ones. A celebration of life was held Dec. 1, 2018 in Kalona. Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread in Morro Bay, Calif., at a future time.

Richard Allen Taylor was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Tulare, Calif., the son of Elvis Raymond Taylor and Grace Lou McArthur Taylor. He grew up and went to Theodore Roosevelt High School in Fresno, Calif. He played football and studied at Fresno State. Richard worked for Madera and Gilroy police department for 13 years.

Richard moved to Portland, Ore., where he met the love of his life, Mary. He was united in marriage to Mary Roseanne Teske on Aug. 28, 1975.

He drove semi trucks for many years.

Richard is survived by his wife: Mary Roseanne Taylor; sisters: Carolyn and Louise; brother: Raymond; children: Ronell, Ronald and Richard; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents: Elvis and Grace; and daughter: Crystal Dawn.
