ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Wellman

It may not have felt like it, but with the calendar flipped over to October on Sunday, it meant it was time for the Fall Dinner held annually at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wellman.

The warm weather did little to stem the flow of patrons who packed in the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to partake in a hearty meal of pork, fried chicken, noodles, mashed potatoes, gravy and rolls. Coffee, water, and punch were available to wash down the food. The full meal was also finished off with a wide range of homemade desserts.

Two rooms were filled with tables and patrons who came to enjoy the food and the company. The dinner saw 755 meals served: 400 dining, 270 carry out, 53 deliveries, which this year included donated meals for shut ins, and 32 worker meals.

The numbers were about where they were the previous year when approximately eight hundred people, including approximately 300 takeout orders were served.
