ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Finishing Highway 22 infrastructure work and paving Tupelo Boulevard on the north side of Riverside will be the top priorities for road projects in the coming year.

The City Council discussed various projects during a work session Oct. 23.

Finishing the installation of infrastructure such as water mains and storm sewers along Highway 22 is already in process.

“It think we’ll still be doing the highway job until June 1,” said city engineer Scott Pottorff of MMS Consultants.

The other top project will be paving Tupelo Boulevard, an extension of Ash Street, to the Northern Heights development on the north edge of the city.

Other projects include repaving Washburn, Fourth and Third streets. Those repaving projects include upgrading storm sewers and water mains under those streets.

According to information provided to the council, the projects will cost:

• $2.15 million for Highway 22, some of which will be spent this year.

• $422,500 for paving Tupelo Boulevard and another $195,000 for sidewalks along Ash Street and Tupelo.

• $450,000 for repaving Washburn from Second to Fourth streets.

• $1.4 million for paving Fourth Street from Boise Street to Highway 22 with another $350,000 for upgrading the infrastructure.

• $1.2 million for paving Third Street from Washington Street to Highway 22 with another $350,000 for upgrading the infrastructure.
