ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

This year’s Lone Tree Elementary School Carnival was its sixth such celebration of spring. And Colene Feldman, elementary secretary, remembers them all.

Each year was a different theme, she said. This year’s was “Dr. Seuss,” and the halls were filled with pictures and cutouts of characters from his much-loved books.

Last year’s theme was “Under the Sea.”

Fourteen classrooms and the south gym featured different activities from making your own slime to a cupcake walk, from a photo booth to a fish bowl where participants could win a colorful beta.

There was also a silent auction, a raffle and a snack bar. Over in the school’s cafeteria, Mincer Catering served hot dogs, burgers, barbecue porkand chicken.

The carnival is a fundraiser for the elementary school. The money raised helps pay for field trips, assemblies and reward incentives.

All the work done to decorate the school, advertise and put on this carnival is done by volunteers, most of them parents of Lone Tree students.
