ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Iowa Mennonite’s Suzanna Yoder and Highland’s Aly Stokes received one more round of post-season volleyball honors after their senior seasons, this time from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Yoder, who was a captain for an Iowa Mennonite squad that finished the year 19-15, was selected to the Class 1A southeast district. Yoder had 450 digs, which was fourth in Class 1A and she was fifth in digs per set at 5.11. Yoder added 48 assists, 20 kills and 41 aces on the year. She was 324 for 338 from the service line this season, good for a serve efficiency of nearly 96 percent. That was third in the SEISC North for players with at least 100 serves.

Highland’s Aly Stokes was named to the Class 2A southeast district team by the IGCA.

Stokes led Highland with 91 kills in 56 sets of play this season. The Highland senior was 150-161 on serves with 22 aces. Stokes also came up big on the defensive end for Highland, with a team high 227 digs and 24 blocks. Her 4.05 digs per set was fourth best in the SEISC North.

Both players earned All-SEISC North nods last month for their play during volleyball season.

Yoder was the first-team libero and Stokes was selected as a first-team hitter.
