Somewhere between 900 to 1,000 people converged at 1881 Johnson-Washington Road Sept. 1 for a double wedding. Aside from the massive amounts of people in attendance, one other factor made this twin ceremony unique.

Brothers Carson and Joshua Bontrager were marrying sisters, Cassidy and Carolina Bowers.

“It’s really unique,” Marlin Bontrager said. “Two brothers marrying two sisters.”

Both have large families, one a family of nine, the other a family of 10 contributed to the large attendance numbers as well as the attendance of other large families, including the Duggars of 19 Kids and Counting fame.

One would think that with so many people to prepare for, such a large event would have been in planning stages for months. However, due to the Bontrager’s music, the last month meant a flurry of activity.

“We tour(ed) with our music until the eighth of August this year,” Bontrager said. “So, we did a lot of crunching the last few weeks, but the brides-to-be have been working at it very hard.”

With all the stressful prep work out of the way, the joy of the wedding has taken center stage.

“We could not be happier,” Bontrager said.

“We just want to bring God honor and glory with this wedding and hope it can be a great encouragement to many people.”
