With a score of 91, Trevor Leyden is moving on to the district meet as an individual for the second straight year.

The Iowa Mennonite junior didn’t start out the day quite like he wanted, turning in a 50-stroke front nine. He then kicked it into gear, putting in a 41-stroke back nine to place second of golfers from non-advancing teams.

Lone Tree’s Payton Lorack was two strokes behind Leyden, turning in a score of 48 on the front nine and a 45 on the back nine.

As a team, Iowa Mennonite placed fifth of seven teams. After Leyden, the scorers included London Schrock at 95, Bronze Slabach at 101 and Cole Roth at 115 strokes. Max Martens hit a 133.

Highland closed out their season as a team with a sixth-place finish. Their team scores were closely clumped together, with Colton Mellinger taking the No. 1 spot at 103, Jack Baker turning in a 106 and Richard Dunbar and Grady Yeggy closing things out at 109 strokes each. Zane Eagle was fifth with a 115, including a birdie on hole one. Rounding things out was Brogan Carolan at 117 strokes.

Lone Tree took seventh at the sectional golf meet, with Lorack’s 93 leading the way. Austin Marshek and Curtis Patterson both shot 109 and the team score also included Cory Krueger at 119. Erik Edens shot 126.

Winfield-Mount Union, New London and Danville all advance to the district meet this Friday.

On the girls’ side, the season ended for Iowa Mennonite, Highland and Lone Tree at their regional meet in Marengo.

The Highland girls took sixth place of the eight teams in attendance with a team score of 507. Charlie Aicher led the way with a score of 119. Emily Streb was the No. 2 golfer for the Huskies, turning in a score of 123 strokes. The team score was rounded out by Kayla Cerny at 125 and Shantall Avendano at 140 strokes. Sarah Schultz shot a 152.

Iowa Mennonite took seventh. They were led by Gretta Rempel’s score of 117. Lara Kliewer scored 129, Kennedy Roth a 131 and Hannah Peters a 152.

Lone Tree finished in eighth place, led by Abby Buckman’s 116. Karli Burr followed-up with a 125, Bailey Pierson shot a 137 and Heather Geiger a 155.
