Trekkies from all over will descend upon the future birthplace of Capt. James T. Kirk at the end of the month.

Trekfest XXXIV will take place in Riverside on June 29 and 30.

One of the highlights of this year’s event will be presentations by noted Star Trek historians John and Maria Tenuto.

The couple, who are each sociology professors at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Ill., will give two presentations.

At 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, they will speak on “Thriving on Limitations: The Making of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.”

The multimedia presentation will include more than 100 rare and never-before-seen photos to paint the incredible picture of a company of actors and artists whose talents combined to create the legendary film.

At 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 30, they will present “A Remarkable Life: A Tribute to Leonard Nimoy.”
