“Even though the clouds made it difficult to view clearly,” said Crystal Gingerich, coordinator for the Mid-Prairie Home School Assistance Program, “students and parents alike were very excited to learn more about a solar eclipse.”
A total of 132 students and family members attended an eclipse-viewing program Monday lead by High School science teacher Lori Trevino and Middle School science teacher Ellen Land, and assisted by Gingerich. The event was at the Mid-Prairie Home School Education Center, formerly the Washington Township Elementary School.
ISO glasses purchased from a NASA recommended online vendor were available, though many brought their own. Besides learning about eclipses in the gym, a NASA live feed was played for a further experience not affected by cloud cover.
