ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

On Saturday, April 7, eight students from the Mid-Prairie Middle School and Mid-Prairie Home School program performed in the 22nd annual Mount Pleasant Middle School Honor Band.

Performing with the sixth-grade band, under the direction of Dorothy Jacobi, were Behla Schmidt and Maddie Kleckner on clarinet, Landon Fox on alto saxophone, Henry Yoder and Luke Krueger on trumpet, and Logan McClellen on euphonium.

“I had a awesome time at honor band,” Yoder said. “It was really fun.”

“It just amazes me at what can be musically accomplished in one day, and it’s incredible that musicians who don’t even know one another can come together and make beautiful music,” Behla Schmidt said.

The band performed “Promise of Tomorrow” by Paul Clark; “Hunter’s Mountain” by Rob Grice; “The Forbidden City” arranged by Michael Story; and “Dancin’ On The Bayou” by Ralph Ford.

Performing with the seventh- and eighth-grade band, under the direction of Jane Triplett, were Ian Schmidt on trumpet, and Dade Gehling on trombone.

“I think that Honor Band was great experience for me as a musician,” Ian Schmidt said. “I think anyone with a passion for music would love to go and play music for a whole day.”
