The offensive struggles for the Mid-Prairie girls’ softball team continued Wednesday night as they hosted neighbors to the south, Washington, who came away with a 7-2 road victory.

Early on, both teams failed to take full advantage early of the scoring opportunities that were presented to them.

Though Washington managed to grab four runs over the first six innings of the encounter, there were opportunities for more. With the bases loaded and no outs in the first, Washington only scored once.

A double play in the second meant the Demons only pushed one across with one out with the bases loaded again, Mid-Prairie got off without damage, despite Washington having runners on second and third and no out in the third.

The Demons left fifteen runners on base, and head coach Kara Suckow credited Cassidy Rourke for largely limiting the damage.

“She’s been our starting varsity pitcher for the last two seasons. She did a nice job there again of kind of bearing down,” Suckow said.
