ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Soon-to-be Mid-Prairie senior track mid-distance runner Peyton Miller finished his summer club track season competing in Lawerence, Kan., at the 2017 National USA Track & Field Junior Olympics.

He finished in 29th place in the 44-runner field with a time of 58.25 seconds.

The hurdles are 36 inches high in club versus 30 inches in high school, which makes the event even more challenging and grueling.

Miller earned his way to nationals in the 400-meter hurdles by placing first at both the Iowa Association Championship meet at Iowa State University followed by the Region 8 Junior Olympic Championships at University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse.

Miller also qualified for the 2017 AAU National Junior Olympics in 400-meter hurdles and 800 meters, which is held in Michigan.

Miller is a member of the Iowa Speed Track and Field Club based in Iowa City.
