Several Iowa Mennonite soccer players earned post-season honors after a SEISC regular season conference title, a Class 1A state tournament appearance and an 18-2 record.

The Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Soccer team selected Cole Ours and Reggie Borntrager to the Class 1A team. Ours had 15 goals and 11 assists on the season to lead Iowa Mennonite. Ours was also named to the Des Moines Register’s Class 1A All-Iowa Soccer team.

“Cole’s ability to beat defenders to the touch line proved to be frustrating for many teams,” Iowa Mennonite coach Marcus Miller said. “With deceptive speed and a cool demeanor Cole slipped a bit under teams radars, but his ability to create and finish offensive chances made him a joy to watch.”

Borntrager played centerback for an Iowa Mennonite defense that allowed one goal per game and had eight shutouts during the season.

“Borntrager’s play improved as the season progressed as he gained confidence in his ability and that of his teammates,” Miller said.

Isaiah Swantz was nominated and played in the IAHSSCA East-West All-Star game on June 16. Swantz had 12 goals and nine assists during the season including going 4-5 on penalty kicks.

The IAHSSCA Academic All-State teams included Cole Ours, Blake Bontrager and Jacob Boller.
