ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Lone Tree

This will be the last year Iowa School Board elections will be held in September. In 2019 when elections next occur, they will be held the first Tuesday in November, the same day and on the same ballot as City Council elections. Lone Tree’s polling place is the American Legion Building just north of downtown.

There are three open seats this year on Lone Tree’s five-member school board. Incumbents Mike Waldschmidt, who has been on the board since 2013, and Christina Magruder, who has served since 2012, are running for re-election. Josh Zaruba, the third candidate, is running for the seat held by current Board President Jim Loan who is not running for re-election.

Loan has been on the board since 2004, nearly as long as Michael Reeves, who also retired this year, served as superintendent.
