ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Anna and Marie Hostetler finished first and second in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter races, leading Mid-Prairie to a fourth place finish out of 10 teams at the Girls Hawk Relays on Thursday, April 20.

The Golden Hawks finished with 87.5 points, just four and a half points behind Fairfield. Solon finished first with 130 points and Pekin was second with 96.

Anna Hostetler finished the 3000 meter run with a personal record time of 10:05.84, just two and a half seconds shy of her younger sister’s state-leading and school record time from two weeks earlier. Marie Hostetler, who has yet to beat her older sister head-to-head, finished second in 10:08.93.

The 4x100-meter relay of Kessa Jones, Abby Tornow, Greta Schmidt and Abbagail Evans finished second as did the 4x800-meter relay of Tornow, Kate Cavanagh, Schmidt and Jones. Despite running without the two best distance runners in class 2A, the quartet finished with a time that would rank 20th among the class 2A 4x800 meter relays.

Tornow also ran a personal-best time of 28.06 in the 200-meter dash. Evans finished fourth in the 400 meter dash and seventh in the 200 meter.
