The Mid-Prairie junior varsity squad moved to 2-0 on the season with a 27-6 win over Wilton.
The Golden Hawks outrushed Wilton 258 yards to 115 yards, led by a 145-yard, three-touchdown performance from Kayden Reinier. Reinier started off the scoring with a 69-yard rush in the first quarter and a Vinnie Bowlin PAT made it 7-0.
Wilton struck back early in the second, passing for an 85-yard touchdown and failing the two-point conversion to keep Mid-Prairie ahead 7-6. Reinier added his second touchdown on a 4-yard rush to make it 14-6.
The Golden Hawks went into halftime with a 14-6 lead.
Ben Meader started off the second half scoring with a 22-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Vinnie Bowlin. Bowlin was 5-11 for 63 yards on the day, throwing one touchdown and one interception.
Kayden Reinier scored the final touchdown of the day on a 7-yard rush to make it 27-6.
The defense was stout on the day, forcing four turnovers including three interceptions. Bowlin, Will Cavanagh and Clarke Latcham each had an interception while Joe Allred recovered a fumble for Mid-Prairie.
Dominic McCain had two of Mid-Prairie’s four tackles for loss on the sack, with one coming on a sack.
The team will kick off next on Friday at Iowa City Liberty prior to the varsity game.
