ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

The Huskies had allowed at least two goals in the first half of each of their first seven games, but on Tuesday, April 25, the team was in a scoreless tie with Central Lee when the horn sounded.

Five minutes into the second period, Jordan Sosa brought the ball up the left side of the field and crossed the ball into the box where Cullen Klebe was waiting.

Sosa took Klebe’s pass and gave Highland its first lead of the season.

“Jordan crashed like he was supposed to,” Klebe said. “We’ve been waiting for that all season, we’ve needed to crash like that, finally it happened and it felt really great.”

Playing with a short bench, the tired Huskies allowed the equalizing goal with under six minutes remaining and after two overtime periods, lost 5-4 in the second round of penalty kicks.

“I was proud of them today, they went two overtimes and the PKs,” coach Tony Castillo said. “I told them that I’m proud of their effort. They gave their effort today and I was real happy with it.”
