ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

There is a vacancy on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors-appointed Johnson County Compensation Board, an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30. Members of the County Compensation Board cannot be officers or employees of the state or any political subdivision of the state (i.e. county or city).

The County Compensation Board is responsible for setting the salary of the elective Johnson County officers, in the manner specified in Iowa Code Chapter 331.907. This typically begins with a meeting in January of each year and may require subsequent meetings necessary to submit a formal recommendation for the following fiscal year’s County budget.

Qualified applicants are required to be eligible electors of Johnson County.

Application forms are available on the Committee/Board Openings webpage of the official Johnson County website, www.johnson-county.com/vacancies and in the office of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, second floor of the Johnson County Administration Building, 913 South Dubuque Street, Iowa City.

Completed applications must be returned to the Board Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25.

Grieving Your Spouse is a professionally led ongoing support group for people whose spouse or significant other has died in the last three years.

This group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday each month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Iowa City Hospice offices at 1025 Wade Street in Iowa City 52240.

The group is set up to help the grieving partner reconcile the loss. In the group, we not only learn from others who are also grieving but also have an opportunity to process our own grief. This is also a great opportunity to network with others who understand what you are going through.
