Lone Tree

Daily bus service to and from Lone Tree was started Saturday morning by the Bee Line Transit. Fellner and Marner Drug Sundries serves the transit company as a depot and tickets may be purchased there. Several passengers have taken advantage of the service each day since it was started, according to the local agents.

No one was hurt but there was a scare for several persons who happened to be on the sidewalk in front of or in the apartments of the Schmitt and Zeman buildings shortly after 1 p.m. Monday.

The top two feet of the brick walls, which front these buildings, fell back onto the roofs above which they extended.

That decorative portion of the walls had been leaning for some time and had given suggestion of collapse.

The buildings house Zeman’s Tavern, Frack’s Café, Irene’s Beauty shop, Hamans Tavern and several apartments. Repair work was started on the Zeman building at once by Mr. Zeman, and James and Johnnie Dvorak had the sidewalk roped off for a few hours while bricks were thrown.

The birthday party which Mrs. Kenneth Meyer arranged for her husband was almost the surprise it was meant to be, according to Kenneth Meyer, the honored guest. A good time is reported.

Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Attig and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Livingstone and Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gerot, Mr. and Mrs. John Kinkaid, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schomberg and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Meyer and family.
