A group of local quilters are pooling their skills for a good cause.

Fourteen quilters gathered at Hills Bank and Trust on Tuesday, July 10, to work on a quilt that will be sold to benefit Pleasantview Home.

“Every year, the bank purchases a quilt to be donated to the Pleasantview Home Benefit Sale,” Branch Manager Katie Miller said.

This year’s sale will take place Nov. 2 and 3 at Iowa Mennonite School.

“We ask local quilters to come in and help us quilt it,” Miller said.

She added that this year’s quilt is a queen-size quilt with a “faded star” pattern. The colors are white, gray and dark red.

The quilters working on Tuesday were Fannie Coblentz, Clara Shetler, Ruth Shetler, Linda Kemp, Eudora Mullet, Leona Schlabach, Emma Miller, Mary Edna Bender, Sarah Miller, Gertie Chupp, Rhoda Hershberger, Rachel Kemp, Emma Jean Miller and Orpha Miller.

Members of the community are invited to stop by the bank to help with the quilt.

“We invite the community to come put in their own stitches over the next couple week until the quilt is complete,” Miller said.
