ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

The Mid-Prairie Community School District will be hosting a Parent Academy: Raising Kids in an Ever-Changing World on Monday, Nov. 5, at Mid-Prairie High School.

A complimentary meal will be served for everyone attending, beginning at 5:45 p.m., with the keynote event, a screening of the 45-minute film, “Angst, “starting at 6:10 p.m.

Following the film, attendees can select up to two breakout sessions to join.

Breakout session topics include:

• “Vaping, E-Cigarettes, and Marijuana,” with the opportunity to tour a mock bedroom where paraphernalia are hidden in plain sight.

• “Developing Positive Social Skills to Prevent and Deal With Bullying.”

• “Angst:” A follow-up Q&A about the film.

• “Reading and the Impact of Screen Time on Young Brains.”

The Parent Academy welcomes all parents, grandparents and guardians in the Mid-Prairie community, including those who home-school or attend private schools in the area. Free childcare will be provided by the Mid-Prairie High School FCCLA chapter.
