ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

The Wellman-Scofield Public Library launched a new children’s program last week.

The program has children from local day cares visiting senior citizen residents at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

“Kids and residents will be reading a few stories, singing songs and doing a simple craft,” Megan Harris, the library’s youth services coordinator said.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, a group of children from Sunrise Child Care in Wellman visited with and entertained Parkview residents.

Harris read stories to the children, while residents gathered around to listen.

The kids also sang Christmas carols to the residents and made reindeer hats.

“The residents absolutely love it when kids come over,” Chrissy Miller, Parkview activities director, said. “They love it when the kids perform, talk and play games. It brings smiles to all the faces.

“There are people who come out who normally don’t come out for anything else.”
