Highland is the last alive in the area football playoff picture as Mid-Prairie dropped to 1-5 this week.

The Huskies currently occupy the top spot in the at-large category now two-thirds of the way through the season.

The eight district champions and eight at-large teams will qualify for the playoffs this season under the new RPI system.

Highland sits at No. 6 overall. Their opponent this week, Durant, occupies the fourth at-large spot. So this week’s contest has huge playoff implications.

Pekin will take on BGM this week and a Pekin win could keep Highland alive in the district title race.

The playoff picture will get a lot clearer with many 2-0 in-district teams facing off against each other this week across the state.
