ARTICLE DESCRIPTION:

Lone Tree school Superintendent Ken Crawford, who oversees the city’s new Wellness Center, says the center will offer a deal to attract new members in the new year.

The “50 For 50 Membership” will provide full membership to community members for 50 days at a cost of $50. After the initial 50 days, you will get $50 off of a regular membership.

The membership includes all amenities, including fitness classes and reduced costs for personal trainers.

Currently more than 400 people have memberships at the center, which has exceeded expectations.

“We opened in late June,” Crawford said. “We are under 6 months old.”

Another activity to bring in members is an adult open gym from 7-9 p.m. starting Jan. 2.

“There’s not a whole lot of structure to it,” Crawford said.

The adult open gym is free to members and $5 for a day pass for non-members.

On Sunday afternoons, the Wellness Center will offer “adult PE,” which will include activities like pickle ball, kickball, volleyball and dodge ball. The sessions will be open for adults 30 years and older and will be led by Joe Donovan, a Highland High coach and Lone Tree resident.

Crawford urged people visiting for the holiday to check out the day passes.
