For the second time, the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort brought home the Give Back Iowa Challenge award in the medium-sized employer category.

Gov. Kim Reynolds visited the resort on Friday, Sept. 7 to present the award to employee volunteers from the casino.

“When it comes to the annual Give Back Iowa Challenge, Riverside Casino and Golf Resort is definitely a rock star,” Reynolds said. “This is the second time that you’ve won the employer category, so congratulations, I’m really really proud of you.”

As part of the Give Back Iowa challenge, employees of businesses from various sizes are encouraged to volunteer and log their hours over a designated eight-week period.

General Manager Dan Franz said that the volunteer efforts at the casino are year-round and thanked all the employee volunteers.

“Thank you for giving your personal time and efforts towards helping so many organizations and people in need throughout our community,” Franz said, adding that employees put in more than 11,000 volunteer hours and gave $50,000 to area organizations.

The resort won in the medium-sized employer category in 2016 and received honorable mention last year.
